With so many different types of hoodies, it can be hard to even know which style you’re shopping for.

I can make it easier for you by telling about the different hoodie styles and where you can get them.

All you need to know for now is that there are two basic styles of hoodies: pull-over hoodies and zippered hoodies.

Each style of hoodie falls into one of the two categories and you can find some of them in both categories.

Fun fact: A hoodie would be anything that has a hood attached but does not have zippers or buttons.

Hoodie Materials

What materials are hoodies made of? Hoodies can be made of any of the following materials in a variety of combinations:

  • Cotton
  • Cotton/polyamide
  • Cotton/polyester
  • Cotton/polyester fleece
  • Polyester
  • Polyester/acrylic/cotton
  • Polyester/spandex

Zip-up Hoodies

The second main type of hoodie is the zip-up hoodie. And, unlike the pullover, these have zips.

Zips are useful in that you can adjust them to let more air in on warmer days or to keep cold out on colder days.

Pullover Hoodies

One of the more popular hoodie designs is the pullover hoodie. These types of hoodies don’t have zips and are snug and comfy.

Baja Hoodies

This kind of hoodie has been there for over 5 decades. Traditionally, these were created out of soft materials in Mexico. These were used in the form of pullovers or ponchos. In the modern age, these can also be availed in the sleeveless form to make wearers look more attractive. Go all hippie with a colorful dose of the Baja hoodie and you can also add a man bun with geeky glasses and loose-fitted cotton traveling trousers to get the world traveler to look.

Skate Hoodies

Such kinds of outfits are the right choice for men who like to skate and like to frequent skating rinks. This type of hoodie is often made sleeveless in form and can show off toned arms of muscular men. These are perfect for men who love to ski and like to turn up stylish. Also available in a sleeveless variant, it works better in reducing wind drag for skaters and also gives allows liberated movements for figure skaters.

TYPES OF HOODIES 3

Slim-fit Hoodies

Putting on a slim-fit hoodie usually makes an individual look slimmer than they actually are. Compared to other types, these hoodies use less elastane during the manufacturing process to achieve a slim look. Unlike regular hoodies, the bottom end of slim-fit hoodies and sleeves are generally tighter. Some slim-fit hoodies have zippers while others don’t, but the longer the zipper, the slimmer the hoodie will look.

Slim-fit hoodies tend to elongate your body, and unlike regular hoodies, they cling to the body more tightly. These hoodies are made using ordinary materials such as polyester and cotton. However, the key to making slim-fit hoodies that cling to the body is using less elastane. How comfortable a slim-fit hoodie feels depends on whether you have the right size. They are attractive, especially when worn by a physically fit individual. Besides, they are highly affordable.

  • Zipper

So this is a very basic sweatshirt. This is, in fact, your poster boy hoodie with all the essentials in order and just get you ready to bounce in the winter.  This is the basic sweatshirt that every guy must own especially if you are getting into college. This is the perfect add on to any basic look and all you need is a pair of sneakers to transform into a cool dude!

Fur hoodies are for the colder winter months. These hoodie styles generally have some sort of fur (faux) around the hood, arms cuffs, or inside.
